debut album out now!

My debut album 'bun palette' is now available.

A little back story:
It has a lot to do with nostalgia (whether it's 1 year ago or 15 years ago during childhood), dreams, nightmares, hopes, failures, along with my unashamed affinity for rabbits -- though most of the songs are instrumental; it's the feeling and meaning and even the spontaneity behind them that reflect the aforementioned.

I approached this album in a DIY fashion in almost every facet of releasing music: self-produced, self-engineered, did most of the artwork along with some friends, and self-packaged the materials for the cd. It is available as a free download as an alternative to buying the limited edition cd (or maybe vice-versa these days), but that's the main goal -- just getting my music out there and heard.

The physical release is limited to 100 copies on handstamped CD in clear vinyl sleeve and housed within a natural cream linen petal card with the bunrage classic logo also handstamped on it. Affordable at $7 + shipping.

Only Few Will Know by bunrage

Mix of a song that I composed and engineered, featuring vocals by my friend Marie Van Der Eycken; the mastered version will be available on my upcoming debut album "bun palette". I have been working on this album steadily since March 2009 and I will be self-packaging and distributing my album in Summer/Fall 2010.

In one tent, a bouquet of yellow flowers was visible through a window. In front of another, a pair of children's pink pajama bottoms had been removed and laid out by agents, near an evidence tag. Several ragged lawn chairs were laid about, as was a couch, a well-used barbecue, and several parched garden plants. On one shed, a heart-shape wall hanging was painted with the word "spring."

The first memory I have was visiting my grandparents in Carson, CA. I was around 4 years old. I remember my mom walking me into their home and that it was during the daytime, but it was fairly dim inside the house. There weren't any windows in the living room, just a sliding glass door to the backyard, letting some sunlight in. It seemed like a strange place to me. Everything seemed strange and new, but there was a sense of welcomeness, something familiar. My mom encouraged me to hug and embrace my grandparents -- instead, I immediately hid near a corner, behind a chair. I was so shy and afraid to greet them, even though they took care of me during ages 1-4 while my mom would go to work. I didn't have any recollection of that at the time, though, and I still don't. I didn't know what to do or say or feel; I didn't know how. I instinctively just wanted to hide myself.

I felt that this was my first memory while it was happening -- the first time I was aware of anything, yet so unaware of what's going on.

I feel like this memory pretty much sums up who I am.

Sunny Fad

Uploaded a new song on the myspace entitled "sunny fad", featuring vocals from Jean Sunwoo. This was actually the 2nd or 3rd song I wrote that was meant for this project, around last April/May. It's come a long way since then.

Hope you all enjoy it. It will be on my upcoming debut full-length "bun palette", coming later this year :).

Release date for Footpaths/bunrage split on Domovoi Records is January 10, 2010. That just so happens to be Jon's (Footpaths) 20th birthday as well. Ha!

EDIT: It will be postponed until further notice and now released under Silas' other label Haute Magie Records. Domovoi is no more.

Vocals

Alright, finally there's something to show with vocals (see my myspace). It's called "goodnight and the two weeks ahead" featuring Jean Sunwoo - a fantastic singer that I found during my search for guest vocalists around 7-8 months ago. She and I plan on working on more material in the near future. You can check out more of her stuff on her myspace page Jean Sunwoo!

I'm still working on more of the songs for my album and awaiting other guest contributions.

Footpaths & bunrage split

Our split will be released by Domovoi Records. My friend Silas runs the label and will share the details regarding the split as soon as possible. I also encourage you to check out some of his music: Bicycle Sighs.

In other news, I made a FACEBOOK page for bunrage...yes. Just search bunrage on that site if you want to "Become A Fan!" Nothing too special on there, but whatever.

BUNRAGE

Let's start things off with what...my album, I suppose. The full-length bun palette that I've been working on for about 8 months is progressing a little slowly, but that's okay. I originally started working on it for my previous project Parabstruse, but I felt the content needed a new name and a fresh start. I'm waiting for a few guest female vocalists to contribute/start/finish their parts and I'm also in the process of writing more songs. It wouldn't hurt to find more female vocalists. Contact me if you have any interest. Doesn't matter where you live, as long as you have a means of recording.

When it's all said and done, I plan on releasing it with handmade packaging in limited quantities that will be based on demand. Aside from that, I will also release it as a free download for those not interested or wallet-sufficient in buying a CD (surely, it will be hard to resist such homemade brew).

I'm also releasing a split with Footpaths, a solo loop-based folk project by my friend Jon Rosenthal.
We are currently looking for a label to release this split physically.
